Twisted Tummy

Nearly a month into the trip and having eaten random street food, cooked over coals on top of rusty old shopping trolleys and opting for a liquid diet of beer and caipirinhas, I've finally been done over by sushi it seems.

It's far from the worst, but it's left my plans for today shattered while I sit on the sofa downing as much water as possible.

The funny moment was when I had to use sign language to explain my bowl movements...I could feel the beads of sweat dripping across my face...

With the aid of my trusty pal Vitor, Lucas and their families, I've been recommended what medication to seek. The only problem is, once again, language barriers. After sitting speechless in the house while the maid cleans the apartment I decided to walk around the block to the nearest pharmacy to seek medical help. I was prepared and ready with a piece of paper with Portugues description of my problems. Well, I thought it was in my pocket. Already there when I realised, I walked in to greet the lady at the counter. "Não Ingles, desculpe". I'm sure you can see where this is going. The funny moment was when I had to use sign language to explain my bowl movements. I think that's what she was trying to ask me. I could feel the beads of sweat dripping across my face. After a medley of hand gestures I was given an anti-acid, Neosaldina and Omeprazol, which was actually recommended previously. Phew!

So here I sit having taken my meds, waiting for what happens next...

The fun fun times!
